Crocheted TINY Snowflake 4

The same pattern can be worked with double crochet instead of half double crochet to enlarge and give a more open feel. My goal in developing this pattern was to make the Snowflake small enough that when worked with a size 12 crochet hook and size 20 yarn it could be used to make earrings.

Legend:
CH = chain
HDC = half double crochet
SL ST = slip stitch

Note:  To make a half double crochet, yarn over, insert hook into stitch where half double crochet is to be worked,  wrap and pull yarn through (three loops on hook),  wrap and pull through all three loops on hook.  Half double crochet complete.

Pattern:

CH 5.  Join with SL ST to form ring.

Row 1: CH 2. *HDC, CH3, SL ST in 3rd CH from hook, CH 5, SL ST in 5th CH from hook, CH 3, SL ST in 3rd CH from hook.  Repeat from * 5 times.  Join with SL ST in top of first HDC.  (Six CH 5 points.)  Finish off.

Note:  I stiffen these with Stiffy (found near the Mod Podge in craft stores). Just use a sponge brush, apply to both sides and allow to dry.
